Pharmacy at Jinnah Teaching Hospital

Pharmacy is an essential component of every healthcare system. The right medication, in the right dose, at the right time ensures effective therapy and improves patient health outcomes. Jinnah Teaching Hospital has a well-established Pharmacy Department, managed and operated by highly qualified and experienced pharmacists.

To ensure efficient and patient-focused pharmacy services, satellite pharmacies have been set up in every ward. Each satellite pharmacy is supervised by a professional pharmacist who provides services such as dispensing medications, managing inventory, counseling patients, conducting ward rounds, and coordinating with consultants regarding drug therapies. This integrated approach ensures safer and more effective treatments.

The Pharmacy Department at Jinnah Teaching Hospital also operates a Drug Information Center, offering updated and reliable drug-related information to both medical staff and the community.

In addition, the department has developed a specialized Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Section, where customized nutritional solutions are prepared for newborns with immature gastrointestinal systems, critically ill patients with malnutrition, those with non-functional GIT, bowel obstruction, ulcerative colitis, pancreatitis, and NPO patients.

Jinnah Teaching Hospital’s Pharmacy Department is among the few in the region equipped with a quality control laboratory, where rigorous qualitative and quantitative testing is carried out to ensure the safety and quality of medicines provided to patients.
